Do you want to become a part of our sisterhood?

Fall Recruitment 2015

Welcome to Phi Sigma Sigma! On behalf of all of the ladies of Theta Iota at the University of Michigan-Flint, I just want to say how excited we are for your interest in joining our chapter!

From fun and exciting events, philanthropy events to raising funds for our Ariel Rose Black Memorial Scholarship, bonding sisterhood events, and that one-of-a-kind Big and Little relationship, Phi Sigma Sigma embodies the finest things about Greek and college life here on the University of Michigan-Flint’s campus! As a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma, you would become part of a sisterhood that strives to AIM HIGH in all that they do. Our sisters are always looking to lend a helping hand to help you get to the places you want to go! Phi Sigma Sigma is a sorority where young women consistently challenge and inspire each other as we strengthen the bonds of pyramid one sister at a time.

Aside from the big picture, I truly believe it’s the little things that make us such a strong sisterhood and set us apart from the other sororities on campus! Whether its always having a sister to sit next to in class or someone to say hi to around campus,  spending countless hours with each other simply laughing and talking, having someone to go on that 2 AM coffee run with, or always having someone there to lean on when times get rough, there is always a sister there for you. It’s these everyday occurrences with your sisters that leave the biggest impression on your life and turn best friends into lifelong sisters.  These are the sisters who are going to be there to be your bridesmaids, be there when you have children, and through the thick and thin.

Two and a half years ago, I was a transfer student going through the same recruitment process, excited yet unaware of exactly how this chapter would transform my life at the University of Michigan-Flint.   Choosing Phi Sigma Sigma has been the best choice I have made in college, and I am so thankful for all of the opportunities, memories, and, most importantly, sisters that it has given me. I couldn’t imagine my life now without being a part of this chapter and surrounded by such incredible women that I grow more proud to call sisters. Once a Phi Sigma Sigma, always a Phi Sigma Sigma. From the outside looking in you can’t understand it, and I can’t fully explain it.  So I invite you to come in and meet the sisters of the Theta Iota chapter at the University of Michigan-Flint.  I encourage all of you to take that first step and see firsthand what it means to be a Phi Sigma Sigma! I can’t wait to meet each of you!

FAQ

Who is eligible for recruitment?

-Any female who attends the University of Michigan- Flint who has never been initiated into another Panhellenic Sorority. In order to join the Theta Iota chapter you must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

How much time does a sororiuty require?

-Every sorority has a meeting weekly, ours occur on Sunday, this meeting to inform the chapter of all the amazing things being done! New members will also have additional meetings to learn how Phi Sigma Sigma operates, as well as, other information such as our values and history.  There are more events to attend that are not always manditory.  These events may include but are not limited to a variety of socials, mixers, formals, sisterhood events, chapter and other organization's philanthropy events, study hours and so much more! The chapter tries it's best to schedule as much as we can on Sunday's to give everyone more time to focus on school, work, and personal lives.

How much does a sorority cost?

-On average the new member semester is the most costly due to the one-time new member fees. Every sorority has its own dues structure. In Phi Sigma Sigma- Theta Iota we try to have an all inclusive budget so it covers sisterhood, social, recruitment and philinthropic events along with shirts. The average cost of Phi Sig depends on the semester and what we are doing. Each year we vote as a chapter what our dues will cost and what is included in our budget. Each sister get's a say in dues. Theta Iota also offers multiple fundraising oppurtunties to pay dues, we know that as college students we are often struggling with money. We also offer payment plans, upon request.
