On top of donating our time and money to our local philanthropies, we also are involved in philanthropy on a national level. Our national philanthropic partners include the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation as its international philanthropy to aid to the lives of our members.  Specfically, it is committed to supporting the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation through financial contributions.  Key programming enables the Foundation to positively impact leadership achievement, scholarships/educational grants and helping students success in their education with our new endeavor: School and college readiness. Theta Iota is privilaged to work with the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation often as we are in the process of handing out our own scholarship that will be given to one of our own sisters.

Our national Philanthropic motto is Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow which lead to the search for new philanthropic partners. This January at Leadership Conference, our national organization, announced our new philanthropic partners! Part of Executive Board had the exciting privilage to attend the reveal in Washington D.C.! We are proud to announce that Phi Sigma Sigma is now partnering with Practice Makes Perfect and Kids in Need!

Practice Makes Perfect addresses inequities in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods over the summer. Practice Makes Perfect is a comprehensive summer education program with a proven “near-peer” model to support students from kindergarten through college matriculation. Their programs pair skills development for younger students with leadership development, career training and college prep for older students. Through a unique multi-relational approach, Practice Makes Perfect strategically matches academically struggling elementary and middle school students with older, higher achieving mentor peers from the same inner-city neighborhoods.

The Kids In Need Foundation’s mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need. They provide free school supplies to students and teachers through the Kids In Need National Network of Resource Centers. Through their Second Responder® program, they help students affected by natural disasters with the supplies needed to get them back to a world they know: the classroom.

The foundation awards grants to teachers for innovative classroom projects through the Kids In Need Teacher Grants program. They also develop community school supplies giveaway programs through the School Ready Supplies program.

As these are new organizations we haven't found the right way to donate our time, but we have began raising money for both organizations. We are excited for the opportunity to work with all the organizations.
